We’re excited to have so many out-of-town guests joining us for our Chicago wedding. While you’re in town, be sure to check out some of our favorite Chicago activities.
The River Walk is one of our favorite summertime activities. It is located on the south side of the Chicago river, and can be accessed from Dearborn and Wacker, a 5 minute walk from the Westin River North hotel. There are many restaurants and bars. Our favorite is the Island Party Hut, which is east of Columbus Drive. They often have live Caribbean music.
Signature Lounge at the John Hancock Center
If you have time for a quick bite and an amazing view, this is one of our favorites. Instead of paying $20-$40 to visit the Observatory Deck of the Sears (Willis) Tower, go to the Signature Lounge on the 96th floor of the John Hancock Center for dessert or a drink, and pay half the price. Night or day, the views are breathtaking. The John Hancock Center is located on Michigan Avenue and is a 20-25 minute walk from the Westin River North hotel. Please note that kids under 21 are not permitted after 7pm.
If you know Richard, he loves his Italian food. Eataly is not only a restaurant but a food experience. If you'd like to sample some great pasta, pizza, delicatessen, gelato, or a Nutella crepe, Mario Batali's Eataly is worth the visit. It is located at the corner of Ohio and Wabash and is a 10 minute walk from the Westin River North hotel.
A great way to see the city is by boat. There are a number of architectural and sight seeing tours offered from Navy Pier and other locations along the river. Further information can be found at: Shoreline If you purchase tickets directly from their website, enter the discount code Web2017 to receive $5 off per adult ticket for the Architecture River Tour
If you're feeling extra active, Urban Kayak provides a way to explore the river while burning calories. While this is something Richard would never do, Anne highly recommends it. Further information on kayak rental can be found at: Urban Kayak
Navy Pier is one of Chicago's tourist spots. Whether it is grabbing a drink or a bite to eat or riding the iconic Ferris Wheel, Navy Pier has something for the whole family.
